Setting Windows Permissions on the DBA Manufacturing Folder


DBA Manufacturing requires Full Control security permissions for the entire DBA Manufacturing folder and all of its contents. These permissions must be inherited by all files and subfolders within the DBA Manufacturing folder to ensure the software can operate properly.  Incorrect permissions can cause installation, update, file access, report, form, and other application errors.


Security Permissions

Apply Full Control permissions to all Windows users and groups that access DBA Manufacturing.


On the DBA server, locate the DBA Manufacturing program folder, right-click the folder, select Properties, and then open the Security tab.


Troubleshooting Tip

When troubleshooting an issue that may be related to permissions, one approach is to add the Windows group Everyone and grant Full Control to the DBA Manufacturing folder. See screenshot series below.


Advanced Settings - apply permissions to all subfolders and files

After applying Full Control to your Users and Groups, open Advanced Security Settings and make sure those permissions are propagated throughout the folder.

  1. Select Advanced from the Security tab.
  2. Verify that the applicable users or groups have Full Control.
  3. Make sure the permission applies to This folder, subfolders and files.
  4. Select Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object.
  5. Click Apply.


This ensures that the Full Control permissions are inherited by all files and subfolders within the DBA Manufacturing folder.


Sharing Permissions

If the DBA Manufacturing folder is shared across the local network, the Sharing permissions should also provide Full Control to all Windows users and groups that access DBA Manufacturing.


To verify the sharing permissions:

  1. Open the DBA Manufacturing folder Properties.
  2. Select the Sharing tab.
  3. Open the share permissions.
  4. Verify that all users or groups that access DBA are listed.
  5. Grant Full Control to each applicable user or group.

The screenshots shown are from Windows 11 Pro. The screens and menu names may vary slightly depending on the Windows or Windows Server version installed.

  • Create the Everyone user with full permissions 
  • Use Advanced settings to propagate the settings to all folders
  • Ensure that Sharing is in place for your Everyone group
  • If this setting resolves your errors, then you can consider applying the permissions to all Windows Users and Groups that access DBA in a more targeted manner and remove the "Everyone" group you created for troubleshooting.
