Setting Windows Permissions on the DBA Manufacturing Folder

There are different types of errors/issues that you can encounter if the permissions on the DBA Manufacturing folder on the server are not set appropriately.  This knowledge base is designed to help you set the appropriate permissions on the DBA Manufacturing folder and it's contents.

The permissions on the DBA Manufacturing folder on the server and it's contents should be set to "Full Control" for all users.    You can access the Properties screen where permissions are set by finding the DBA Manufacturing folder on the server, right-clicking on the folder, and then selecting the "Properties" menu option.

When running into issues that may be related to permissions, one thing we like to try is adding the user group of "Everyone" and then applying Full Control to the Security permissions on the DBA Manufacturing folder for the user group of "Everyone".  Once you do this, you will also want to access the Advanced Security Settings and replace the child permissions with the inheritable permissions, which ensures that the full permissions are propagated throughout all the contents of this folder.   For an example of this being done, please refer to the screenshot that's posted below.

In addition to setting full permissions in the Security tab, in the Sharing tab of the Properties of the DBA Manufacturing folder, add the user group of Everyone and give the sharing permissions "Full Control" as well for this user group.

Lastly, I do want to mention these instructions were based on setting permissions on the DBA Manufacturing folder on a Windows 7 machine, and the process may different depending on which Windows Operating System you're running on your server.
